The Ed Show - Wikipedia

The Ed Show was an hour-long weekday news commentary program on MSNBC that aired from 2009 to 2015. The program was hosted by Ed Schultz, who also hosted the nationally syndicated radio program The Ed Schultz Show from 2004 to 2014. The show aired in a variety of timeslots. On March 13, 2013, Schultz revealed that he would be moving to a new expanded weekend lineup at the network. His last weeknight show aired on March 14, and the show returned as a weekend show on May 11 at 5 PM ET. The Ed Show returned to weeknights on August 26 of the same year, taking the 5 PM ET slot previously held by one airing of Hardball with Chris Matthews. The show used a multi-camera, video and graphics driven format not seen on other MSNBC programs. The first block of the show was fast-paced during the Op-Ed segment. Schultz originally did most of his segments standing, but eventually moved to a sitting format. On April 11, 2011, MSNBC incorporated a new logo, a new studio, a new color scheme, using more blue than orange, and a new segment at the beginning of The Ed Show which has Schultz standing while doing a monologue about a chosen subject in front of a screen that flashes graphics such as charts and archive footage. In May 2009, according to Nielsen data, The Ed Show finished well behind CNN and Fox News Channel at 6 pm, averaging 500,000 total viewers and 160,000 in the 25-54 demographic numbers, which were down 13% and 35% respectively compared with May 2008 when David Gregory was anchoring the hour.Regular guest hosts of the show included Cenk Uygur, David Shuster, Thomas Roberts and Michael Eric Dyson. Al Sharpton, Chris Hayes and Lawrence O'Donnell also guest-hosted; all three gained their own series on MSNBC after first guest-hosting on The Ed Show.

Ed Night: Your Old Mucker review – a laconic, sharply observed stroll around south London | Edinburgh festival 2025 | The Guardian

The show traces his perambulations around his local neighbourhood, from the dentist to the butcher, from Nisa Local to the betting shop, connecting with friends and local characters along the way. The show traces his perambulations around his local neighbourhood, from the dentist to the butcher, from Nisa Local to the betting shop, connecting with friends and local characters along the way. Dotted throughout are references to his late grandad, whose eccentricities (a penchant for filling biscuit tins with not-biscuits; a circumcision in his 80s) are to grandson Ed a wonder and inspiration. With a couple of later riffs (one on the Buddha; one on Steve Irwin) seemingly winched in from different shows entirely, the show may not hang together that tightly. But walking a mile in Night’s shoes is still, in this Edinburgh comedy award-nominated show, a wander well worth taking.‘If there’s one thing this show doesn’t do, it’s come to you,” says Ed Night. That’s part of the charm – and possibly a slight failing – in the south London standup’s new set. r/sitcoms on Reddit: Does anybody remember the show Ed?

29 votes, 31 comments. The modern family talk reminded me of the show Ed that Julie Bowen was in. I don’t remember much else about it. And it did gain a little bit of infamy back in the day. IIRC, the pilot episode remains unaired. What they did was they edited the pilot down to five minutes and stuck it on the first episode as a "Last time on Ed..." recap to set up the show.I watched it last fall. Normally not my type of show but I was going through some stuff and it clicked with me. Some of Ed's qualities reminded me of myself, and the years when it aired were the toughest of my life.I saw the movie Ed TV on earlier today, and flipped over to it, expecting to see Tom Cavanaugh, and totally forgot it was a MacConeughey film. ... Someone just recently posted about it in the Forgotten TV subreddit. ... I just started my first rewatch since it aired. ... I am not sure honestly. Others might know. ... Great show but the episode where Mike is sued for sexual harassment is complete bullshit.I know my dad was a huge fan, mainly because his name is Ed and Dad is goofy like that. "Hey, it's my show!"

r/television on Reddit: The Strange Disappearance of Ed, the Great Show That Time Forgot

I literally thought of this show - that I could recall no other details of - this week, because there was one episode that I think about all the time. It was the one of Ed really getting into charity and feeling guilty for having any material possessions so he even gives away his watch. Another great NBC show time forgot is "Brotherly Love" ... Man, those were good Wednesday nights on NBC: Ed, The West Wing, then Law & Order.I use to recommend this show a lot to people but had to give up as like this says it’s just too hard for people to watch. Shame too as it is the one of the best shows of that decade. ... Incidentally the premise of Ed getting fired from his law firm for a misplaced comma is pretty accurate.I remember seeing a recent pic not long ago of Julie and Tom together goofing around and it brought back so many good Ed memories. ... EDtv | Moviepedia | Fandom

EDtv starts off with the television channel True TV commencing interviews for a TV show that shows a normal person's life 24/7. This idea was thought up by a TV producer named Cynthia (Ellen DeGeneres). They interview Ed Pekurny (Matthew McConaughey) and his brother, Ray (Woody Harrelson). When the producers see the interview Cynthia decides to use Ed and interviews only Ed. The show hits the airwaves under the title "Ed TV." It is a total failure at first, as only boring things happen and the producers want to pull the plug, except for Cynthia.Ed then goes on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and meets beautiful model/actress Jill (Elizabeth Hurley) who takes a liking to Ed. Ed then visits Shari and she tells Ed that she does not want to be with him until "Ed TV" stops airing. She then leaves town. Ed goes to the park with Ray and some friends to play football when Jill comes to talk to him, because Cynthia brought her in to earn more ratings.Ed gets an idea on how to stop the main producer from showing the show: he says that he will give $10,000 to the person who can give him the best amount of "dirt" on the producers and that he will announce it live, with the desired result being they stop airing the show before he can make the announcement. As Cynthia feels sorry for Ed, she tells him a secret of the main producer. Ed announces the secret (that the man has to pump a liquid into his penis to get an erection) but before he can announce who it is they stop airing the show.

Ed (TV Series 2000–2004) - IMDb

Ed: Created by Jon Beckerman, Rob Burnett. With Tom Cavanagh, Julie Bowen, Jana Marie Hupp, Josh Randall. A separated, fired NYC lawyer returns to his hometown in Ohio, meets old high school friends and cute crush, buys a bowling alley and opens a law office in it. I really don't watch that much television anymore, I've never been hooked to any tv show, except now to Oz and Ed. Whenever I watch Ed, it gives me a special feeling, and I find myself smiling through the show. I don't think there are any weak characters in the show, and I haven't yet seen a bad episode (I've seen season 1, now it's the season 1 reruns).Ed Stevens has the day of his life when he is fired from his job as an NYC contract attorney and finds his wife with another man. He uses this as the opportunity to overcome his fears and pursue his dreams. Returning to his home town of Stuckyville, he pursues his highschool crush, buys the local bowling alley and practices small town law. A delight for dreamers and romantics of all ages and genders! ... One of the best shows in a long time. All the characters are just great. Ed is a loving and interesting person, great imagination. Julie Bowen is very very lovely (Its not only Ed who falls in love with her). In general the cast is great. What can I say, this show is just a pleasure to watch. And the red line through it all is the relationship between Ed and Carol (Julie Bowen, Happy Gilmore): everyone knows they are made for each other, but the writers know too that postponing the inevitable is what keeps us coming back.

The Ed Sullivan Theater After Colbert: Last Days of a Late Night Icon

With 'The Late Show' leaving and no new occupant announced, the future of Broadway's most storied talk show stage is suddenly up in the air. ... In the if-these-walls-could-talk sweepstakes, the Ed Sullivan Theater might never shut up. As in the radio days, Studio 50 was the preferred venue for television performers who craved the contact high of a live audience, none more so than the star of The Jackie Gleason Show. “Gleason manages everything around Studio 50 except the refreshment counter at the back of the theater,” said TV Guide in 1954. Among the things he managed around Studio 50: Gleason demanded that the electric applause signs be removed, bellowing. “When my audience has to be told when to applaud, I’ll get out of this business!” · Ed Sullivan and Ethel Waters on Oct.But the performer (to stretch the definition of the word) most identified with Studio 50 was Ed Sullivan. Born in New York on Sept. 28, 1901, Sullivan first entered show business behind a typewriter as a Broadway columnist for the New York Evening Graphic in 1929 before moving over to the New York Daily News in 1932, where he had a byline for the next 42 years. In the late 1930s, editor-publisher Billy Wilkerson offered him the editorship of The Hollywood Reporter, but Sullivan was too ur-New York to defect to the left coast. In June 20, 1948, always with a keen eye for the next showbiz hustle, Sullivan jumped into the embryonic medium of television to host a variety show, Toast of the Town. From 1948 onward, he showcased what the trade press still called “colored talent” or “sepia performers.” In 1953, a year before Brown v. Board of Education, Sullivan informed the Pittsburgh Courier, “In the beginning I was told not to shake hands with Negro performers, and I was criticized when I put my arms around Ethel Waters or Joe Louis.” He then rattled off a partial list of the Black entertainers he was proud to have hosted: Lena Horne, Eartha Kitt, Cab Calloway, the Deep River Boys, Dorothy Dandridge, Phil Moore’s Flock and “all the major Negro sports figures and so many others [who] have appeared on Toast of the Town.”

'The Ed Sullivan Show' is a hit once again - Newsday

The documentary "Sunday Best" and a YouTube channel have made the variety hour that gave us The Beatles and Topo Gigio a hit again. After the really big finale 54 years ago, and the death of its legendary host three years later, "The Ed Sullivan Show" is having an extended moment. A YouTube channel on the classic variety show sailed past a million subscribers in June. "Sunday Best," a Netflix film about the show's impact on Black performers, dropped July 21.Why endearingly square Ed? Why now? The answers are all part of a story that truly begins on June 20, 1948, with a Harlem-born Broadway newspaper columnist who had a gift for spotting talent, notably Black talent. CBS feared NBC was about to move "Uncle" Milton Berle to 8 p.m. on Sundays, so Sullivan's new variety show was likely intended as prime-time cannon fodder.Nearly 40 million people watched "The Very Best of Ed Sullivan" on CBS Feb. 17, 1991, and over the decades since, Solt's small company, SOFA Entertainment, has produced dozens of other "Sullivan" clip shows — on the Stones, the Supremes, Elvis, the Muppets, and even Topo Gigio, that other puppet which became a national sensation after first appearing on "Sullivan" in 1963.Ed Sullivan, center, with The Beatles when the Fab Four at a rehearsal on Feb, 8, 1964, the day before they appeared on Sullivan's show.
